Renovation Project - time to tackle the garden
We wake up to a beautiful sunny
morning, after a couple of brews I go to hang the washing out, yes it really is
that nice, the sheep are happily munching through the undergrowth, they really
are the best lawn mower, especially as we don’t have to feed them.
But as it is such a sunny warm day
we decide to tackle some of the brambles that are out of reach of the sheep.
The patch that we are going to tackle is near to the back door and all over the
roof of the little barn (we actually think some of the bramble are holding the
barn roof in place, we get to see how bad the barn roof is, and wonder how long
it will be before it collapses completely!)
We work for hours clearing and at
one point we finally have a clearing from one side to the other, this patch of
garden has not been touched for many years and we start work at just the right
time as the brambles are starting to shoot, if we had left it any longer it
would have been impossible to clear (well a large flame thrower may have done
it, but that would be dangerous!).
We work all day and end up with
some large piles which will make a bonfire at some point in the future, we both
end up covered in scratches and I have a large blister on my hand (I was
tempted to photograph it to prove that I do something, but that is a bit sad and
not a very nice photo!) I check face book periodically through the day and see
that friends and family in the UK are covered in snow, so I can’t help myself
and post a picture of us in the sun in the garden, cruel I know but funny in a
warped way.
We leave the last bit as we are
aching and knackered and you never know we may have another sunny day before
July!!!!
Oh I soooooooo hate gardening so hats off to you both!! Ps we've had beautiful blue skies here all over Easter, happy Easter to you both xx
ReplyDeleteCheers Jacqui, we had some snow!!!!!!!!
DeleteHappy Easter to you both and make sure you pig out all day on chocolate lol xx
Hi Jenny,
ReplyDeleteCheck with your local Mairie - there was a nationwide law passed last year that banned bonfires (except for farmers). No-one around here is taking any notice but keep an eye out especially if the gendarmerie isn't too far away!
Hi David
Deletethat's good to know we thought it was just between May and September, unfortunately we burnt it all the day after, luckily no gendarme's nearby, to be honest we have hardly ever seen any Gendarme's since coming to France, so very different to Manchester and yet so much less crime????
We don't see many but they are about. Too darn cold outside today for gardening :)
ReplyDeleteYes far too cold, but I am finally getting to go for a long walk around the area, I might even get to see some of the fabulous sights we've not seen yet!
DeleteHi Jenny & John,
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good Easter clearing the garden, it is quite a task but lovely once done and you are able to sit out when finally the weather changes, as for the fire we are not allowed them in the village and couldn't get away with it as we have a Gendermerie in our village and the smoke is a bit of a giuveaway.
