Renovation Project - How much insulation do you need for a ceiling!

Renovation Project - How much insulation do you need for a ceiling!

Today is a happy day, my daughter and baby granddaughter are coming to visit again soon, so I arrange to borrow the cot, we really do need to look at buying one soon, I also try to borrow the bouncy chair thing again, but am told that she is now a bit too big for it, this gives us a problem as the floors are all wood, but still often covered in dust, we do not want to have carpets in the house but we do need to have something for the baby to sit on and crawl on. We discuss this and realise that when we are open as a B&B, the wood floors will look lovely but people will want to be able to stand on something comfortable.

The happy alternative is to get some rugs, we will be able to get some to match the decor in the house, this will mean the wood floors can be seen but there will be something warm to stand on and comfortable for the baby to crawl on, one site we have seen so far is mail order rugs and these have some fantastic value rugs, we now just have to decide on colour schemes, OMG I can’t believe we are getting to the stage where we are considering decor, woo hoo I’m so excited, but now it’s back to reality as the living room ceiling has to go up, rugs, cushions and the fluffy bits have to go back on hold.

The extra joists in the living room ceiling make the job so much easier, as does the plaster board lift, we do hit one problem though, we miss judged the amount of insulation that we needed and have to go and buy another couple of rolls, we also decide to buy the copper pipe for hot water cylinder and moving the sink, we have had a weep on the mains pipe so this also needs replacing so the trip to the building merchants is not a waste a time though it makes the job take longer than we planned but, wow what a difference, it is starting to look like a house!
