Renovation project - Our little French house

Renovation project - Our little French house
We are now at the beginning of a great couple of weeks we have friends coming back to the town from Canada and the UK, which means many nights out and lots of socialising.
But work must continue, just with a slightly thicker head than normal and a slightly later start time!
As we are still waiting for the wood to be delivered John continues with the upstairs room in the little house. There was a fireplace in this room, but it was not nice and in very bad condition, there were no nice granite stones, just lots of concrete. It really wasn’t worth saving.

So the hole is blocked up and the room is plastered. One thing we really don’t want is a perfect room so John plasters the room in lime based plaster; this gives a much older feel to the walls.

Once all plastered the room is given a coat of paint to seal it, and John tries out the wood stain on the roof beams. It would be good to leave them natural, but they are different colours and where some were replaced also different styles of wood. If they are all stained this will not be as noticeable.

It is one of those wow moments when I look at it, as the room looks so different, we can really see how it will be when it is finished.

  1. Very nice authentic look, and your skylights let in a lot of light for a small size.
