Renovation project - Where can I buy cheap furniture in France?

We are actually at the stage of looking for new furniture; I am fed up of having everything all over the house and piled in bags in the bedroom. We do not want modern furniture, we want the property to retain its charm and so need furniture that will do this.

We go to Emmaus, (link) if you have never heard of this, it is a charity that sells old furniture. The shop looks like a large warehouse, and there are rows of tables outside covered in all sorts.

We find a dresser that is similar to the one we bought for our old house, we also see many wardrobes, but manage to pick just one. We then buy two smaller cupboards.

I arrange delivery of the large furniture and the rest we fit into the car.

It is only when we got home and start to measure the walls, do we start to have a panic as too whether it will fit!

A few days later somebody from Emmaus rings, they need to change the delivery date, the accent is so strong, I struggle to understand, but hopefully we have arranged the correct address and date, it’s fingers crossed.

But no need to worry the day and time were arranged correctly and the van arrives with our furniture, I had forgotten just how big it was, it is taken apart and placed in the garage.

The wardrobe goes up and our bedroom looks almost like a real bedroom, the other piece of furniture is definitely too big, hopefully this will go into the little house (hopefully!)
