Renovation project - European road trip - Second stop - Burgos and Valladolid, Spain
After a great night in Bordeaux we are heading over to Valladolid in
Spain, we have an Ibis hotel booked which is again on the centre of the city.
Once again this is a budget hotel but it does have a private bathroom. The price
of this hotel is approx 50 Euros per night.
The drive too Spain is stunning but unfortunately we are following the
big storm so the weather is not as nice as we had hoped. It is great too pass
through the borders and see a sign for a new country without having to queue up
and have our passports ready.
We have used the toll roads on this trip as we have a long way to drive,
if you are using the toll roads make sure you have a credit card that is
accepted as not all the toll booths are manned and accept cash.
One of the great things on this road trip are the tunnels through the
mountains, some can be a 3 or 4 kilometres long and when you come out you enter
another amazing valley.
We are passing by Burgos and this is a town that I have looked at many
times when planning trips, we have enough time to call in and visit, but it is
so cold we do not stay for long, we also do not think it is everything that we
thought it would be, but that may be because we were too cold to stay for long.
Here are some of the photos that we took. Next time I think we need to spend
more time and properly drive around in case we did miss the sights.
We arrive in Valladolid and it is a beautiful city, but we as we arrive
we find a giant Carrefour and all we can think of is the amazing cooked
chickens that we used to buy in Spain, so we call in and buy one of these for
our dinner, the smell is amazing as we drive to the hotel. Not quite the dinner
we had planned, but it was delicious with fresh baked bread.
We get a map of the city and go out for a drink in the evening, we do
not get to see anywhere near as much as we had planned, and make the decision
that we will have to visit again.
