Male or female couplings? 31.01.13

Male or female couplings? 31.01.13

John starts on the waste system for the new bathroom this involves trying to get the waste pipes through concrete and stone, not an easy task and involves a lot more elbows (these are couplings that make waste pipes go around corners) than expected. I go to the little Drougerie in the town square to buy some more, I know my size but I find out that they have male and female ends, so do I want a female to female, male to male, male to female or female to male? I have no bloody idea! So buy a couple and the shopkeeper who is very friendly says to buy some and bring back what we don’t want, apparently John informed me I wanted female to female and looked at me as if this was the most obvious thing in the world. Unlike England where the majority of waste fittings are push fit, the French version need to be glued into place, which means there are no second chances and it has to be right first time, Otherwise you hear lots of swearing!

The sink is also removed from the back bedroom, this is the next room we will be starting on, and we now have a bit of a tight time frame, we have visitors coming in just over a week and they will be staying in this room!

I have managed to clear most of the rubbish and building supplies from the living area and we are starting to look quite homely. We are looking at living room furniture now, but are still in 2 minds about buying anything as we will be removing the ceiling above the living area, once we have finished the back bedroom, ooh the dilemma’s.

Also spoke to Leigh and Kayleigh today who have both just received their parcels from us; we managed to buy 2 gorgeous little outfits for the babies and sent them over to the UK. It is lovely to be able to send the babies nice clothes that you know would be classed as designer in the UK, but I have realised that it is quite difficult to buy French kids clothes with French writing on, as the writing seems to be mainly English!
